Delight
We are surrounded with cynicism; we are immersed in it. I have always been an optimist, yet I find myself slipping into the cynic camp. I’m trying to reverse this trend; taking materials that are seen every day, but not seen, and using them to make objects that delight. The familiar seems alien. The ordinary becomes ceremonial. The discarded is repurposed. It is sort of a jujitsu move, using the weight of your opponent against him.
With all my work I’m not trying to change the world, just you. If I can wake you up to the delight that surrounds us, I’ve done my job.
