Landscapes
Stop focusing. See the big picture. Look to the horizon whether distant or near. The horizon, a line that marks the extent of our visual perception, is both an end and a beginning. The end of what we see and the beginning of what we imagine. Frame, crop and edit. Distill the colors and patterns of our visual and mental landscapes into a few thin slices.
Light plays an important role in the landscape and is at the core of this series of light sculptures. My inspirations are the urban landscapes of Oakland, historical landscapes as seen and recorded by others, and interior landscapes – imagined landscapes with no physical presence past or present. The works continue my exploration of the use of projected light and sculptural forms. Each piece is the projection of a segment or segments of a landscape that inspired me.
